The Car

 

A Knackered, left hand drive, VW Beetle. “Poldi” was born in Germany in 1972. At 34 he is the oldest member of the team. Poldi thought his life would end rusting away in a German cul-de-sac. Then…..

 

2 men from Harrow bought him to enter in the Plymouth-Dakar rally. BUT Poldi’s dreams of becoming a rally car were dashed when ill health forced the team to quit the event.

Poldi was devastated. The nice men had repaired a lot of his rusty bits but he still wasn’t road worthy and sat, forlorn on the driveway. What was to become of him?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Despite being unable to enter the rally themselves Poldi’s owner’s still wanted to see him fulfil his ambitions as a rally car. They posted an advert on a VW chatroom asking if anyone was interested. Poldi’s luck had changed. His picture caught the eye of Tony, team “Getcha Motor Running” mechanic. In exchange for £99 we had a car and Poldi had a new home.

 

Poldi went to live in Tony’s garage. All his christmasses had come at once. Tony restores VW’s and would have him back on the road in no time!
